Energy drinks (Red Bull, etc.)

🚫 No eating: Energy Drinks (for dogs)

🧪 Toxic Components per Can

  • Caffeine – 80 to 150 mg (extremely high for dogs)
  • Taurine – safe for humans, but dangerous in overdose for dogs
  • Guarana extract – a natural source of caffeine (adds to total caffeine load)
  • High sugar content
  • Vitamin B complex (may not be toxic but adds to metabolic burden)

⚠️ How Energy Drinks Harm Dogs

  • Excessively high caffeine dose causes:

    • Agitation / hyperexcitability
    • Tachycardia (dangerously rapid heart rate)
    • Electrolyte loss
    • Febrile seizures (seizures with high fever)
  • Taurine – although beneficial for humans, it is not suitable for overdose in dogs and can contribute to arrhythmias and neurological symptoms.

  • High sugar – can lead to hyperglycemia, pancreatitis, and osmotic diuresis.

An energy drink is equivalent to a concentrated poison canister for a dog.

🛑 Absolute Prohibition

Do not eat – no safe amount.
This drink is strictly forbidden for dogs in any state (full can, leftover sips, spilled liquid).

🆘 Emergency Action (if accidental ingestion occurs)

  1. Immediately go to a veterinary emergency department.
  2. Inform the veterinarian of the brand (to know exact caffeine and taurine amounts).
  3. Perform strong sedation (e.g., diazepam, phenobarbital, or propofol) to control seizures and agitation – this may be life‑saving.
  4. Prognosis is uncertain even with aggressive treatment.

🧴 Warning

This is a high‑risk drink for dog deaths.
We must be vigilant – never leave energy drinks unattended where a dog can reach them.

🐶 Energy drinks are not refreshments for dogs – they are concentrated poisons. Keep them locked away.
