Baby bok choy/greens (boiled)

✅ Eatable – Bok Choy (for dogs)

Bok choy is a cruciferous vegetable (Chinese cabbage group).
It contains:

  • Beta‑carotene
  • Vitamin C, K
  • Folic acid
  • Calcium and iron

🟢 Advantages over spinach

Compared to spinach, bok choy has lower oxalic acid content and higher calcium bioavailability.

🐶 Benefits for dogs (cooked)

When cooked and fed to dogs, bok choy can:

  • Provide bone‑supporting minerals (calcium) and vitamins
  • Promote blood clotting (vitamin K)
  • Provide antioxidant effects (beta‑carotene, vitamin C)
  • Offer mild fiber that benefits the intestinal flora over time (with moderate use)

📏 Safe preparation & dosage

Preparation (before each feeding):

  1. Wash thoroughly
  2. Steam or blanch in boiling water for 1–2 minutes until soft
  3. Remove the stem and hard base
  4. Chop into dog‑friendly pieces

Dosage:

2–3 tablespoons per 10 kg of body weight per day

🧪 Crucifer concern (glucosinolates)

  • Although bok choy is a cruciferous vegetable, the remaining glucosinolate content after thorough cooking is very low
  • Thyroid‑normal dogs are not affected
  • No reports of toxicity

✅ Final verdict

Ideal for daily leafy vegetable feeding for dogs.
Safer than spinach and mustard greens for long‑term use.

Always cook bok choy plain – no salt, oil, or seasonings – before serving to your dog.
